VNC Manager

The Workspace Solution, Inc. recently upgraded the VNC Manager to version 1.2 with improved features and fixes. The VNC Manager is a GUI (Graphical User Interface) tool to select and connect to remote computers desktops with VNC (Virtual Network Computing) technology.

This tool was designed to manage the selection of a client’s computer via IP address with associated network port and authentication used to remote access a computer system hosting the VNC server program. VNC is a graphical desktop sharing program that uses the Remote Frame Buffer protocol (RFB) to remotely control another computer desktop. It transmits the keyboard and mouse events from one computer to another, relaying the graphical screen updates back in the other direction, over a public or private network. Basically, VNC allows you to access and control desktop applications from just about anywhere. VNC has a widespread user base, from individuals to the world's largest multi-national companies, utilizing this technology for a range of applications. Once setup is done, the user would need the public IP (Internet Protocol) address (or local IP if connecting within a private network), the VNC port number, and user id with associated password for connecting to target computers. If the Public IP is not static, then user can setup a DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System). DDNS has many useful purposes on the Internet. Here, this tool would be highly useful so you do not have to remember the static public IP address and their Windows logon information.

If you are only doing one or two computers at one or two locations, then you can memorize the access information or write the information into your wallet. But if you are accessing or supporting many computers, it can get a bit messy. This tool was developed to serve three functions:

  1. Keep a list of all of the computers access information
  2. Manage the list of computers
  3. Execute the steps to make the remote connection

To get start, first download the VNC Manager. This document will explain more on this tool and help you download the tool and get started. There two versions of the VNC Manager tool: the VNC Client Manager or the VNC Company Manager. The client program manages a group of computers by companies. The company version is unique to one company with number of computers to access. The document will explain everything you will need to use either tool.

This tool was designed to be able to run a flash drive drive from the any MS Windows computer. However, you must run the executable code from that folder on the flash drive. The tool will check your computer if it is 32-bit or 64-bit to selected the right VNC viewer application located in that same folder.

This is a release version 1.2. Any feedback and error messages would be greatly appreciated.
